The following is some background information to bring you up to speed with the progress we have made so far. We have only just discovered this blog thing and thought it would be a great way for people to see our building project.
So here it is...
We bought a block of land at the start of July this year (2010). It roughly has a 7 meter incline on the high side of the road and therefore we had to build a split level house. We wanted to really utilise the 845sqm block and build a house as big as our budget allowed us. With this we investigated many different builders and after many recommendations we settled on building through Homestead. After looking through catalogues for hours on end, talking to sales consultants and getting many quotes, we decided to design a plan ourselves. We based our design on Homestead's Sandridge design, chopped it up moved it around and sent it off to our sales consultant. A week or so later we received our first plan back (shown below)
After receiving the initial copy of the plans we thought for a very long time about changes we could make to the plan and came up with heaps of them. I won't go through them all in detail, but it predominately involved moving rooms and adding/changing windows. Which brings us to the second drafting of our plans (shown below) which we received last week.
The plans are slightly incomplete, but we are currently waiting on our final changes to go to the draftsman and then we will have our FINAL draft. Hopefully it will be any day now.
